Dr. Meghna Verma, an esteemed academician, researcher, and marketing consultant, recently spearheaded a groundbreaking initiative aimed at solving urban mobility challenges in Bengaluru. Through her collaboration with Corporates in Real Estate (CIRE), IISc. Sustainable Transportation Lab (IST Lab), B.PAC, and Future ICT Forum, the Green Ride campaign was launched to collectively contribute towards decarbonizing Bengaluru by promoting sustainable mobility solutions.
As part of the Green Ride Launch event on March 1st, 2024, Dr. Meghna Verma engaged in a Fireside Chat with Sri. M N Anucheth IPS, Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Government of Karnataka. This insightful discussion provided a platform to delve into various initiatives of the Traffic Police and shed light on the current status of urban mobility in Bengaluru.
During the Fireside Chat, Mr. Anucheth emphasized the importance of leveraging technologies like AI and ML to resolve traffic issues. However, he also acknowledged the limitations of these technologies, particularly during peak hours. Dr. Meghna Verma highlighted the need for a speedy and reliable commute for all commuters across the city network, drawing attention to the significance of Bus Priority lanes in reducing congestion on the roads.
One of the key challenges discussed was the limitation of road space for implementing Bus Priority lanes city-wide. Dr. Meghna Verma emphasized the importance of promoting public transport with world-class facilities and seamless connectivity throughout the city network to encourage corporate employees to adopt sustainable commuting practices.
