Kurien Mathews served the role of Chairman and Managing Director at Metal Communications along with Director at Rage Communications as well as Conscious Food for the past one and a half-decade
Kurien Mathews Known for building strong brands through deep consumer understanding for the past three and a half decades, Brand Strategy and Digital Marketing Expert, Kurien Mathews has departed for his heavenly abode.
In the past, he has helped build, and in some cases ushered in the India entry, for a wide array of brands including Sony, Nivea, Limca, Amul, Frooti, Samsonite, Platinum Guild, Bajaj Allianz, Electrolux, BPL Mobile, CNBC, Malayala Manorama, Yamaha, IndianOil Servo, Medimix, Dainik Bhaskar, Fortis, etc.
Earlier on, Mathews had also co-authored the book titled ‘Brands Under Fire’ with Ivan Arthur of JWT which was published by Penguin in 2008.
He has served on the Managing Committee of the Advertising Agencies Association of India, AAAI Awards Jury, Trustee, Citizens for Peace and as Trustee of The Subhas Ghosal Foundation.
Mathews had also co-founded Anthem Communications in 1988, which became part of TBWA WW as TBWA\ Anthem in India. He and his partners exited the Omnicom JV in 2008 handing over 100% ownership of one of the communications services groups with 350 people across 7 offices in India.
Whilst at TBWA\, he also helped facilitate the entry of several Omnicom brands into India like Tequila and OMD.
After TBWA\, from 2009 Mathews had embarked on a new phase in his professional life, exploring a wider range of industries, putting his Brand, Organisational, Strategy and General Management skills to broader use.
In 2021, he initiated and saw to fruition JV (51: 49) between Rage Communication and ADK of Japan, leading to a 100% acquisition this year.
He also successfully led a mid-pandemic initiative to bring investment into Conscious Food in 2020, which helped grow the company four-fold in less than 30 months, laying the ground for a Series A fund raise in mid 2024.
He was also involved with several not for profit organisations.
