Elon Musk announced that Twitter’s verified creators can now get paid for ads that are served in replies. The first block payment totals $5 million, said the Twitter owner.
Musk emphasised that only users with verified accounts are eligible for the payouts.

Note, the creator must be verified and only ads served to verified users count.
The move comes after its brand-new CEO Linda Yaccarino took charge this week.
Twitter was lately in the news after reports of its ad sales plummeting 59% between April and May this year. According to an internal presentation accessed by an international publication, the company routinely failed to meet its sales projections after the exodus of advertisers from the platform.
Meta teases preview of Twitter rival
As ad revenue woes beleaguer the platform, rival Meta has showed its employees a preview of ‘Project 92’, a microblogging site to take Twitter head on.
The app will be based on Instagram, say reports and will integrate with ActivityPub, which will allow users to take their accounts and followers to other platforms like Mastodon.
Meta top executive Chris Cox called the platform “our response to Twitter.”
“We’ve been hearing from creators and public figures who are interested in having a platform that is sanely run, that they believe that they can trust and rely upon for distribution,” Cox said, taking a veiled jab at Musk.
